Ales, Wheat & Stouts

Ales are made using top fermenting yeast which usually have floral, fruity aromas, flavors are richer and more complex.

Pale Ales are of British origin and generally known for good amounts of malt & hops. American Pale ales tend to be Cleaner and Hoppier and higher alcohol content than British pale ales and have a citrus & Piney character. Sierra Nevada is one of the classic American Ale.

IPA or India Pale Ale are fairly pale. The hop flavor is Floral & spicy with a moderate to assertive bitterness. They have average to high alcohol and popular ones are Lagunitas, Firestone and dogfish head.

Wheat beer is made with Raw wheat and also sometimes brewed with Orange Peel and coriander. One of the most popular wheat beers in the US is Blue moon Wheat beer

Stouts - many of these are from Ireland have malt and light caramel flavor with a distinctive coffee like, dry roasted bitterness. They are easily recognized by black or deep brown color. They typically have low average alcohol content. Guinness stout beer is one of the most popular stout beers in the world.

Lagers, Pilsners & Bocks

Lagers were originally created in Germany with yeast best suited for cooler temperatures. Lager Yeast falls to the bottom of the fermentation tank and is known Bottom fermentation yeast. The colder temperatures slow the fermentation of the yeast which This allows the beer to be light and crisp and more prominent flavors of malts and hops.

Pilsner lager is most popular style of beer in the world. Some of the popular American style pilsner Lagers are Budweiser, Coors, Miller and Michelob.

Premium light lagers are lighter versions and some popular brands in the US are Miller lite and Coors light.

Pilsners are similar to Lagers in the way they are made and have medium to high hop bitterness, flavors and aroma. Some of the popular pilsners are Modelo & Corona Extra from Mexico, Heineken and Stella Artois from Europe.

Bocks are darker German Lagers made from Barley malt. They are traditionally light copper to brown in color, Sweet, lightly hopped, rich, toasty, and slightly caramel taste. Some of bocks that are popular are Shiner Bock and Anchor Bock.

Craft Beer – it’s a common perception that any beer which is not a lager, or a pilsner is a craft beer. Although this is not true it may be right some of the times because Craft breweries usually focus on

producing other beer styles than lagers since those are easier to make. Craft Beers are usually beers produced by small, independent, and traditional brewery as defined by the Brewers Association.
