With the introduction of La Noble, HPS was one of the first importers to realize the untapped potential of the Languedoc region of Southern France. The brand was born in 1989, when HPS President Dan Kravitz tasted half a dozen Languedoc 'Vin de Pays' Merlots at the office of a Bordeaux négociant that had just opened a Languedoc branch. He was suitably impressed by one of the wines, and immediately made an appointment to visit the supplier, Yves Delmas, of Domaine La Noble. The first two vintages of Domaine La Noble Merlot - 1989 and 1990 - were runaway successes: hot, ripe, and packed with tender fruit at incredibly low prices. Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay were added to range in 1992, and as sales increased, HPS began selling more than Yves at Domaine La Noble could grow. The name was shortened to just 'La Noble' (which HPS trademarked) and HPS began sourcing additional fruit from neighboring vineyards in Pennautie (Merlot) and Limoux, Florensac and Marseillette (Chardonnay).Today, La Noble wines are blended by HPS at the offices of the largest négociant in the Languedoc. Lots from select growers are carefully chosen to maintain a consistent style and ensure high quality. In a world awash with oceans of mediocre $10-$12 Chardonnay and Merlot, we take great pride our La Noble wines, which, over the past 20 years, have been recognized more than 30 times for their consistent quality, character and value!
