Giuseppe and Pietro Simis daughter Isabelle took over management of the winery at the age of 18 and ran it successfully until 1970 when she retired. Over the years, Isabelle planted her Roseto, Italian for rose garden, with a new rose planted in honor of each new U.S. President (except, of course, for President Herbert Hoover, who enacted Prohibition in 1920). To this day, Isabelles Roseto blooms fragrantly for visitors at the winerys century-old cellars in Healdsburg.
