The remaining was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks. A portion of the lots underwent partial malolactic fermentation in the barrel as well. This wine was aged sur lie was stirred monthly. With proper cellaring, the Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Chardonnay can be aged for up to 8 years for optimal enjoyment.
